Deadly blast rocks Balochistan, claims 34 lives and injures 130+

A tragic suicide blast near a mosque in Balochistan province, Pakistan, has claimed the lives of at least 34 individuals and left over 130 others injured. The explosion occurred during a gathering to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, an event known as Eid Miladun Nabi. The attack took place near the Madina Mosque in the Mastung district.

The suicide bomber detonated himself next to the car of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gashkori, who was on duty for the event. Tragically, DSP Nawaz Gashkori was among the fatalities. The wounded have been rushed to medical facilities, and an emergency situation has been declared in the hospitals.

Dr. Saeed Mirwani, the CEO of Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital, reported at least 34 fatalities and numerous individuals in critical condition due to the blast.

Response and condemnation

Balochistan's interim Information Minister, Jan Achakzai, stated that rescue teams have been dispatched to the area, with critically injured individuals being transferred to Quetta. He strongly condemned the attack, emphasizing the desire of hostile elements to disrupt religious harmony and peace in Balochistan with foreign support.

Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti also expressed strong condemnation of the blast. Caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki has directed authorities to apprehend those responsible for the tragedy.

The attack has prompted outrage and sadness among the people of Balochistan and Pakistan as a whole. It underscores the urgent need for continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens during religious gatherings and events.
